Yearbook award!

Kam's been on the yearbook staff the past 3 years and the yearbook from last year - which was only the second edition ever since our school is only 3 years old - won a national award in a competition with 2000 other schools! Kam was totally excited! Here's the media report:

Valley Vista High School yearbook wins ASPA award

The Valley Vista High School Yearbook Staff, under the leadership of Editor-in-Chief Natasha Gagarin and Adviser Robert Waller, were recently awarded First Place in the American Scholastic Press Association’s (ASPA) Annual Review and Contest for scholastic yearbooks, magazines, and other publications. In their review, The American Scholastic Press Association said the 2007-2008 Valley Vista High School yearbook, “Shows excellence in the fields of writing, photography, and page design. Congratulations to the editors, writers, photographers, layout designers, staff, and adviser who have made this publication possible.” The American Scholastic Press Association, located in College Point, New York, serves over 2,000 public and private schools annually. Robert Waller, Valley Vista teacher and yearbook adviser, said that he was proud of the students’ efforts and work throughout the yearbook process. According to Waller, “These students are the historians for our school. In 20 to 30 years, people will look at the work of the yearbook staff to recall the high school experiences of today.”
