Mission Update

Zach was transferred from Kavala last Monday to a city in the southern part of Athens - Paleo Faliro - which is right on the beach. He says it's beautiful! His new companion is Elder Rice from Santa Barbara, California, who celebrated 1 year on his mission last week. Elder Rice is a convert of 4 years and the only member in his family. They have a branch in their area although it's very, very small. He taught Sunday School yesterday in church. On Thursdays they do service at a Sea Turtle rescue - they clean the turtles and the tanks and do some maintenance work. He went to McDonalds last week and had a strawberry milkshake which he was very excited about since there were no American-type restaurants in Kavala. They also went to a swap meet on P-Day which is at the base of the Acropolis. Very cool! They're teaching a few people, including a guy who used to be a member of the Greek mafia. Interesting.......He's still trying to figure out his new area and is getting acquainted with the investigators the missionaries have been teaching. He's doing well and loving his mission. Here's a picture of him in Kavala:
