First Cross Country Meet of 2008

Yesterday morning was the first cross country meet of the season. It was held at the White Tank Mountains, and this is our sixth year attending this meet. This course is a bit brutal - there are hills, rocks, cactus, ruts, sand, uneven gravel, and the possibility of meeting various desert critters (snakes). And it was HOT!!!

This was Parker's first ever cross country meet. We weren't sure how he would do but he totally surprised us all! I was waiting near the finish to take pictures and suddenly Parker was there! I hurried and got the camera ready. He had a fantastic time! (Zach - he wanted to email you his time, so if you haven't read his email yet, stop right here and read his email first...)His time was 20:58 (the course was 2 3/4 miles)!!! Pretty amazing.
Kam did really well, too. She ran almost 2 hours later than Parker, and so it was not just hot, it was REALLY hot! She ran 26:17. Which we think beat her time from last year.

The 2008 Cross Country season is looking really good for the Kelley kids - this was by far their hardest course and they usually get better with each meet.
