A couple of weeks ago in preparation for studying Matthew 25 and the Parable of the Ten Virgins, we made our own clay oil lamps in seminary. The kids had a great time and have been anticipating the day when we would finally get to light them. Well, today was that day! I had my camera out and ready to take pictures, but totally forgot to. Rats! We had an insightful discussion about the parable and how it applies to us today, and no one got burned. A successful activity!

These are my students' oil lamps. They did a great job making them and their personalities really were displayed in their decorations.
Also, the past two weeks they were collecting points for doing things to improve themselves. I translated their points into "oil drops", and it was interesting to see them make the correlation between the oil drops they'd earned and how long those oil drops would burn in their lamps. They learned that we have to continually be adding oil drops to our spiritual lamps - our testimonies - in order to keep them strong.
John came and helped me - at 5:30 am - as my handsome assistant. I couldn't have pulled this one off without him! He is the master lamp lighter. :o)
